Technic SL 1200-M3D Turn Table Question

Yo, does anyone know how to take the platter off a tech 1200? My gemini it just pops off, but my boys 1200 seems to be attached somehow.

Its the same on the 1200s. Take up the empty space between where the platter usually sits and the top where it comes off by lifting it and holding it there, and then a quick yank upwards and it should come right off.

yep, you just need more elbow grease.

Aight, but its really stuck on there thenn, Im lifting the whole table and shaking it like an English nanny, but its stayin stuck.. I'ma try again.

that's odd that the table lifts up. Try having dude hold it down while u attempt to pull it up.

damn bro you need to just push down on the spindle and pull up on the platter at the same time.stick your fingers in the two holes on for each hand and push down on the spindle with one. dont yank. sensitive shit you know what i mean.

Yeah, I tried that, too. His sh!t is like 6 years old and he's NEVER taken the platter off, so it could just be hella stuck. I'ma try again when he's not around, so I can not have him freak out about me yanking his tables apart.

When the platter turns (well, for a second during each rotation), you can hear something kinda grinding in there, like something little got in between the platter and the rest of the table. So we just wanna take the platter off and see what the deal is. These are OLD SKOOL Technics, tho, maybe they work different than the new ones. I've had my SL 1200-MK2's for 17 years. I've never had a problem taking the platter off. As a matter of fact, just last week I took the platter off to adjust the brake. I've never had it make a scraping noise before.

Here''s the 1200MK2 Manual. It's basically the same turntable. The newer M3D model has no indent on the pitch control (it was cited as an annoyance by critical DJs) and instead has a quartz-lock button that locks the pitch to 33rpm or 45rpm depending on which button is selected. Also, the plastic cover no longer is hinged to the deck. Otherwise it is identical to the earlier MK2 model.
