What kind of card reader did you use. Did you already have the internal zip and are replacing it with the card reader? Or did you only have the floppy?

http://www.smeyer.cistron.nl/mpc/ <- I did that with that same card reader. IDE/ATAPI Interface Internal 6-in1 Card Reader.
Just Installed it on basic mpc 2000xl.

Maybe you just got loose wires? Check the jumper setings on the drive, maybe.

If you followed that guide correctly, it should work. When you said "Basic 2000xl" you mean it had the floppy drive and not the zip, right?

Wait a minute!!! oh shit! It`s working! It`s alive!!! Bwahahahahaaa! Problem was on the flat cable. Device says ATAPI.
By the way... When pressin shift + load (3) Not ready ! ! text appears. I don`t have any cards to this yet so it`s got to be that? Right?
