Getting a 2KXL for features like time-stretch and resample is pointless, but if your like mad_philosopher and you hate editing samples on a computer, then you should get a 2KXL. I reccomend you stay with your 1K and get a program like Sound Forge. It is a great investment for any studio. I do all my time-stretching, resampling, EQing, and effects all in Sound Forge. Plus, there are so many plug-ins that you can add on to make Sound Forge 10x better. So again, if your looking at getting a 2KXL just for features...reconsider.

You are 100% right !!!! Try to find a different sound ! I have a 2k and a 60 and my friend has a 1k. the 1k sounds as good as the 2k in a different size i'd say. But thats why I bought the 60 ; for the 12 bit sound. Or try with an emu sp-1200 at least that will change something to your music. Stop looking for what you already have.
I can't believe people spending a fortune for a 4k ! just buy a couple of great samplers + mixer + computer for the same price !

but yer ill definantly look into some samplers, im gettin ma 2kxl by the weekend, won it for the same price as a 1k so thats good (new one with flash reader and 32 megs) .
Anyone got any views on the mackie onyx mixers, anyone with the onyx and the 2kxl?

Howdy folks, I know this was an old thread, but recently I was informed that my borrowed 2k was gonna have to go backhome....I'm of course, a bit vexed since I've been steady on it for a while and with a bunch of beats on zips.

the stuff ya'll mentioned was good and I was in fact considering getting the 2kxl when I get some loot together (ebay here I come)...but really what are the big big differences?

Will my zips from 2k function alright on the 2kxl?

Although I am on the PC, I make the majority of my beats on the MPC
I terrible with software. The 2k works for me.

So any other suggestions besides those mentioned, would help a bunch

As far as I'm concerned, using 4 programs at a time compared to just one is a HUGE difference. Also, although it may seem cosmetic, the tilt-up screen saves your neck, literally.

i heard the 1k has "resampling" the kind where you record a sequence into a .wav sample. sample and play a sequence at same time. for example i have a sound module without a sequencer but it has midi. You could make a sequence of a bassline using the mpc. then have the mpc play the sequence and sample it at the same time. anyone know if it can do that.

jus got the 2kxl (blue one), its THE SHIT man, havent done much with it, but already the touch and feel of it is exactly what you want from an mpc, and is a lot more detailed then the 1k in terms of on screen options.
