have problems saving to compack flash

I recently brought the mpc1000, although I've never worked on an MPC my understanding of computer base sequencers and recording knowledge should not be a hugh learning curve for me. but at last there are a few problems I am incountering with the MPC.

1. when I first turned on the MPC it loaded up the CF like it says in the manuel, after playing with the preset programs and sequences, I made a sequence of my own using the programs that was loaded. then I try to save what I had made to the CF, then I turn off the machine turn it back on then try to retrive the seq, I made. I would then get a message wrong file!

2. a day or so later I turn on the MPC and the CF would not load up right away; even though they say It would in the book. I eject the CF and then the internal sounds load in the MPC, i did't turn on the auto loaded. when the CF is in the machine when I turn it on it just freezes until i eject the card.

Can this be the MPC it self, or the CF being that I have not been able to save my stuff, or do I need to update the OS and if so how do I do this?

let me see if i can help you.

first, you don't need the CF card in mpc to turn it on. the factory sounds and seqs are stored in the internal memory.

second when you made the beat using the factory sounds and saved it, did you do it on a new seq?

did you save it to memory card?

did you change the name of the saved seq?

are you using the card that came with the mpc or a new card?

if new card, did you format the card b4 u tried to save something to it?

it is suggested (not required) to update the OS to the newest version which is 1.07.

I really appreciate your help, in this matter. I would love to intergrate the MPC into my existing system.
