What is a good 12 - 16 channel mixer for between $250 and $400. I always hear about Mackie, but they are almost double everyone else. Should I just save up and get a Mackie...is it worth it?

PS I did a search before I typed this.

invest more money into your recording mechanism, ya know like a nice apogee mini me, a reel to reel, a nice EQ to a digi 002, in my two years of messing with this stuff ive found it to be a more important factor in your "sound" than your mixing board, ive owned a mackie, a behringer, and a tascam. now i just use the behringer during the mixing process, unplug everything, route my mpc directly through a vintage ibanez UE405 to my Digi 001. best signal ive ever got.

bottom line the price range your looking at, there is no real reason to opt for a more expensive Mackie, the behringers even have bass cutt off filters, the mackie 1604 doesnt.
