MMC 'play' command sent - how to get out of MMC

Just bought my first MPC 3000 read a few chapters from the manual haven't finished yet, very newb....but I made the mistake of letting my friend play with the MPC and when I tray to play or record I get MMC 'play/record' command sent. I've searched around including this board I vaguely understand how mmc used to connect things like pro tools to the computer, but I can't seem to find out how to get it out of this mode so I can go back to recording and learning the MPC! Any help on this newbie problem would be greatly appreciated.

I don't own the MPC3000 but if its similar to the 2000xl you have to go to the MIDI options and turn it off.
