4-BAND EQ BUG!?

I was using the 4-BAND EQ and all of a sudden I get loud distorting noises all over the place. Has this ever happened to any of you?

what exactly do you mean by loud distorting noises?

If you boost frequencies too much you will get distortion no matter what EQ you use. Also, it depends on what your monitoring on and how loud you got your signal going through your monitors or system. If it's already pumping through very loud as it is (volume cranked on the MPC) and you say add bass through the eq you can get quite a bit of clipping and distortion.

Play with the eq more and your volume settings and such and see if you have the same problem still, cause I haven't noticed anything peculair about the eq, except that it's kinda weak.

I'm not talking about the sample, I'm talking about noise, and lot's of it. It wasn't the sample that was distorting, it was some kind of noisy, glitchy, loud sound.

Aight....I'll play with the eq on my MPC tomorow and see if I have the same problem. Were you eq'ing the master outs or using eq as an effect? Did you notice this sound when adjusting a specific frequency? What was the context?

I get a similar problem sometimes that happends when I use the master EQ and compressor. Every once in a while a snare that is panned to the center will play hard right and sound all crazy with phasing and distortion.

strange, i have been using the mater fx a lot and did not notice anything.
but no eq as fx1 or fx2 (only reverbs so far)

do you know some settings which "bug" more ?

I was using the EQ as an effect.

Yes, the mid range.

I was EQing a snare drum.

Havent notice anything on mine but ill keep a look out.

I just remembered I was using the 4-BAND EQ in FX 1 and the BIT GRUNGER in FX 2.

Maybe all those loud, random noises happened because I was using the BIT GRUNGER at the same time.
