Does anyone know if a MPC 60 has to have the 3.10 OS upgrade in order for a 2000XL to be able to read the disc. I looked in the manual for the 2000XL and did not see it. For type my 2KXL reads ???? meaning incompatible. The manual says it should read "MPC3000" that is why I'm thinking you may have to have the upgrade. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What type of disk?

Was the disk ever placed in a PC?

I'm practically certain that an mpc2000xl cannot read an mpc60 disk, no matter what os the 60 or the xl have. A 60 with 3.10 can read 3000 files and vice versa, but not a 2000xl. I'm 99.5% certain. 99.5%!

MPC 3000 - It was a floppy disk and no PC

Crown Prince - The 2000 XL manual says that it can. It states that the disk should read as a MPC 3000 disk in the "type" field.

the 3.10 60 cannot create a 3000 file, it only reads them and converts them to 60 format.

MPC2000(xl) can read any disks from any MPC60 OS or MPC3000 OS.

I suspect either the disk is damaged or the wrong type of disk was used. Most MPC60 owners do not realize that the MPC60 uses DD disks (not HD). Using a HD disk in an MPC60 (with any OS) will prevent any other machine or PC from reading that disk.

I suspect if you cover the extra hole on the floppy the MPC2000 will read it.

MPC 3000 YOU ARE A GENIUS!!!!!!! It worked like a charm. I put a small piece of tape over the hole and voila!
