jus got a 3000...some questions....

Just got me a 3000LE (sold my 2000xl) and im jus tryin to get my head around it.

Im finding choppin samples on it a m*****!!! It seems to take soo long!

Are u all choppin ur breaks in the 3000 or are u using (for instance) recycle and then using MPC Editor to put the prg onto disk then loading it in the 3000.

Also would drums sound better being sampled into the 3000 (actually sampling an already cut drum hit) rather than via a disk? something to do with the AtoD convertors perhaps?

I dont know...

Just wonderin how u all do it cuz its pissing me off tryin 2 cut drums up in the 3000!

If you keep at it you'll get faster. When I get lazy (or pressed for time) I use Recycle to chop then create pgm's using MPC editor to Zip disk.

so if im cuttin a break (drums for instance... kick hat snare) and i wanna seperate the different hits, what would be the easiest way....To copy the entire sample 3 times then adjust the soft start and ends of each to get the different hits?

Im jus finding it really long (seems so much easier on the 2000)

and also would the sound quality be better if i sample the chopped up drums (if i chop them up on computer) rather than choppin them then saving to disk and loading in the mpc?

The sound quality really depends on the source and your soundcard. I would do an A/B comparison. Try recording a sample in your computer chop it and create a pgm with MPC editor, then do the same maually on the 3000 with the same sample. If both sound good then maybe you can go the MPC Editor route.

...ive jus been cuttin drums...gettin a little faster at it!

for some reason when im sampling analogue its comin through all distorted. Im not maxin the inputs (even when the samples rides half way up the input meter its still comin distored!)

any idea why?

Slow down dude,

check th gain switch at the back, it should be at mid or low, high will distort almost anything,

Check the 60 FAQ, there's a tip on how to chop with the copy zone to temp feature. It is slower than the 2000 for chopping but once you get up to speed it isn't that much slower and i think you get better results.

hell nah, no recycle...the 2000 spoils a lot of people with wave form editing. now you have to use your ear, but this only makes you better. this is the old-school method that i came up on(no homo).
