Elmacaco, man this 16 level sh*t is dope. Loops are cool to f*ck with, but the idea of taking sounds and creating your own sh*t is where its at. And if you're going to do this, you have to save. I think that when you gather sounds you're creating etc..I know this is stating the obvious, but I never save anything. I found some DD disks in my closet. Its like wake up, find a horn, save it..come home get a snare, save it etc...

Anyways, thanks Elmacaco for opening my eyes. Also, I saw BAAD ASSSS. Dam ,Mario van peebles best movie, I saw it twice, turned my brother on to it. Tonight we're going to watch Sweet sweet...The original.

Later y'all.

the only problem i have w/ 16-levels is that you can't compress the sound (that i know of) and still get full 16-levels, only the 3 or 4 higher pitch levels.

i think i'm getting the sampling at 45rpm trick wrong too. cuz i'll sample 10 seconds at full 8+ pitch and 45 on the 1200, then pitch down in the edit sample screen and then use 16-levels to get different stab pitches and freak a pattern. but how can i save the original sample at that lower pitch (usually i need to go down to about negative (-) 60 or 70 to get the sped up sample back down to a cool sound. but i can't figure out how to save it like this and compress it because you have to save as atleast 0 or greater.

i couldn't really tell a difference between that slowed-down 45 sample on the mpc and one simply sampled at -8 on my turntable but i guess you can go lower on the mpc than -8???

am i doing the whole 45 trick bassakwards or what?

Sound compression is for saving space really, I don't like the tuning restrictions after compressing, I wish they would just let it alias.

Basically you need to not compress it to take advantage of 16 levels. Do you have the mem expansion? I don;t know why you's use the time compression on everything if you did.

Could there a way to tell the filter chip to turn itself off? Or is that something that is programmed into the brain of the chipset? That'd be amazing if you had an option to turn off the filter. I think i'll ask forat if he knows something about that. Could you imagine having the mpc-60 power with an option to alias on or off?

Dope shit!

That's that real-time MDI and the way it does the math.
Think about what the data compression does and how the MDI works and it makes sense why the restriction exist.

it makes sense but is it a limitation that needs to be there or one they put there so it wouldn;t sound crappy under any crcumstances?

it seems a bit like a governor to me, but then again, I'm not a big digital math guy (as you know) so I'm not up on how these samplers really tick.
