cool edit pro,,,,,HELLLLLLLLP

whats up guys,,,since my last post,,i have learned alot,,and now my first recordings as an artitst and producer,,,mostly,,from not being afraid to ask question in this forum,,,so i owe alot to cats thats have helped me to get to this point,,whatever i ask,,,somebody always help out,,,,good looking yawl,,,,

"all tears whiped",,i have another,,,,,,i have cool edit pro now,,,,,and i cant record,,,,i'm not sure if i have the outs set to my sounds card,,or the in's either,,,but i'm going right into the mic jack in the back,,,one says intell integrating something,,the other one says wave master,,,and does this have a rehersal mode so i came hear thru,,,before i recored,,,need help,,,

Do you only have one soundcard? What is it (check under device manager to find out). Then go into Cool Edit's Options,Device settings, and choose The device as your input and output device. After that, you should be able to hear sound on cool edit. Press F10 to turn the monitor/meters on or off.

try defaulting your soundcard settings, i use to have this problem ,i have a SB audigy platinum and i would gointo the surrond mixer and set to default and it would work again.

ok,,,i did all that but it is still not giving me a level on record or anything
can you hear you music before you record it or not,,,,i;m sorry for bring this simple problem to yawl,,but i have jus a little time to get this working,,,i set every device setting i could find to mt=y sound card and still nothin,,,,is it the cord,,,or the device my music is on,,,i had it amped up tho,,,,plz,,still need help

what other inputs are on your soundcard? if its a stock soundcard you should have a LINE Input, MIC Input, and Speakers Output

plug what you want to record into your LINE input.

go into Volume control in Windows
click Options
click Properties

click Recording and put a check by LINE In and MICROPHONE

now you can select which source your computer will record from. if you have something plugged into the MIC input, select Microphone. If your using the LINE input (which I use) select Line In.

if that dosnt work, let me know...

ok,,,it was the way i had it hooked into my mic jack,,the signal wasn't strong enough,,or it wasn't the right cord,,,but anyways i went into options and set every single in or out to my sound card,,,there are a few of these so check them all,,,so i found the right cord which was a Y, D/A,,,,came from the record out on my receiver,,,,with my source hooked to that,,,i made sure i had all my i/o's set to the soundcard,,armed the track,,,,and pressed record,,,make sure your level meters are going up,,,,then do it big
