Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By Emakulate Conception Tue Aug 23, 2005 1:59 pm
Is it hard on the MPC to leave it running all the time? I maybe turn mine off like once a week for a day? I figured it's just like a computer so as long as I keep it cool it should be fine. Am I wrong? Plus if I have a hot idea, it's easier just to get to work rather than have to load everything up.

YES. Turn it of when you don't use it. It doesn't take that long to boot an mpc.

Well theres a reason PCs have screensavers, as well as standby-mode. Turn yur sh!t off, it's hardware, it's made to be turned off and onn when you need it, thats why it has a button to do this and no warning to not do it frequently.

The only problem I've ever heard of with turning hardware on and off was doing it rapidly and blowing the fuse.

i turn my mpc offveery day but if i'm workin on something and i need to go cook dinner or pick up my son i leave it on ,thats just a few hours but i dont leave it on for days or weeks at a time.

man especially on hot days that sh!t gets hot as phuck, it starts to act up then ,i need to get a fan to help cool it down,

yeah i advise trunin it off.

man i cant stand leaving my mpc turned on sitting there doing nuthin. cause i know that that little lcd is dissolving away into nuthinness and reducing the life of my mpc, and that i may have to rip that dps12 apart and salvage the screen.

I leave my MPC 2000 XL on all the time...I'm talking like a 3-4 weeks at a time...This has been going on for years and I've never had any problems at all. It rarely freezes, the screen is mint, and it is working like the day I bought it...Maybe I got a lucky one or something...Well, just my 2...PEACE...
