MPC 4000 How to??

Preview and load sounds from my PC on to my MPC4000? I remember reading many times in press releases from Akai how great and convenient the new MPC4000 is with USB port allowing connection to a computer in order to edit/preview/load samples off of the computer's disk but every time I try this by selecting load on the mpc, I am only able to see the internal HD and CD rom. I installed the akaisys software, usb drivers, set my hard drives in the pc as sharing but still no sign of them on the mpc. I read all manuals, pdf and this entire board but could not find any messages addressing this issue. Am I missing something? On akaisys I can only transfer files from the MPC to the computer but not the other way around. I appreciate any info on this.

I have been using the MPC4000 for over a year, and I don't ever recall reading anything about it being able to access the computer's hard drive. The MPC4000 doesn't even have sound auditioning for its own drive let alone one on a computer connected by a USB cable. You might also have two different filesystems. The MPC4000 uses FAT32 and most computers now have NTFS. FAT32 cannot view NTFS files, but an NTFS machine can view FAT32 files. I hate to say it, but I think you're mistaken about what the MPC4000 can do.

My computer is setup for FAT 32 files just like the MPC.
As for the akaisys software, I can only transfer files from the MPC to the computer but not the other way around. Is this the only way the software works or can I do the other way around?
What I am trying to do is, since I have all my drums sounds in my PC's drive I want to be able to send them directly to the MPC without having to resample. I have thousands of sounds and it could take forever to do it.

Files can be dragged and dropped in either direction using AkSys. But you cannot sit at the MPC and transfer files. The MPC is a slave device. It is not a fully networked computer.

Thanks again. I tried and everything worked out. I was doing copy and paste instead of drag and drop but everything is now working as I was expecting and the MPC4000 is rock solid. Best. John
