When you tweak drums and stuff, do you add eq and compress before you load up the samples into the mpc. I am using a MPC1000. I eq-ed some kicks and snares. The snares were ok, but the kicks didn't come out as good as I wanted them. Like maybe 5 kicks out of 32 kicks came out perfect and were very usable.

Sometimes...all depends on the sample in question. Wish I could be more help, sorry.

Some people do some don't. Experiment and see what works for you.

Also, make sure you search before you make new threads like this. This topic was dealt with in the past.

The best way to go about this is to know the limitations of what your 1000 can do as far as shaping and altering sounds. Once you get a feel for what it can and cant do, you will be able to say to yourself like, "hey, I think this sound needs a multiband eq." or "I would prefer to use my computer audio editor to timestretch this sample because it does a better job lowering higher pitch sounds without sounding so chopy.". Not that either of those are necisarily true, but you get the idea. It's just like knowing what shoes to wear to what kind of occasion.. sometimes we can tell by looking and sometimes we have to learn by experience. Good Luck!
