Scsi question

I got a 4 gb scsi to my mp. but I only have like 300 meg to save. I know my scsi have different partions, bur how do I accses the other partions?

When youre saving (or loading), there should be all the info about the drive (SCSI ID number, type of drive, etc) and if it's partitioned, then there should be a PART:A or some sh!t like that. Turn the jog wheel and you should be ab;e to chose different partitions.

it doesent, only when I press format, then i can choose different partions.

Have you tried to reformat it? Try reformatting it and dont use any partitions, see if that works. (Obviously save any data to zip that you ned to keep first)

ok i tried formating,, same thing... I toke a look in the manual...

"Set the partitioning. When you are using a large disk, such as a hard disk, it is easier to manage files by dividing the disk into partitions which are then named in alphabetical order. The Partition size= field will display the size of each partition set in the Parts: field.
When A-A is selected in the Parts: field, the disk will not be partitioned. When A-D is selected in the Parts: field, the disk will be divided into four partitions: A, B, C, and D. The disk space will be equally divided."

thing is, there aint no A-A or A-D I can select... only like A-E,F,G,H,I,J,K,L,M,N,O etc etc.... and all are like 300 mgb each..

In the "Format" page, see if you can set it for "A-Z". that will give you 26 different partitions with about 150 meg in each partition. Then after you format the drive, when you go into the Save or Load screen, you'll see the PART:A. Move the cursor over the letter and then you will be able to access the other partitions with the Jog wheel.

I tried that... still nothing,,, I only get one partion... and its 170 meg...

What kind of MPC do you have and what OS are you running?

Do you have a SCSI port on your PC? TRy formatting it on the pc as FAT or FAT16? I dunno, your sh!t should be working. Do you have the termination set properly? Try setting the HD to a different SCSI ID#?

On the back of most SCSI devices is an ID switch, which determines what number SCSI the device is. Also, there is either a switch with TERM written next to it or an actually adapter-looking-thingy that you plug into the SCSI out of the drive that terminates the chain.

When you have SCSI devices linked, the final device must terminate the chain. If you have only one device, the termination must be on. Otherwise, all the terminations need to be off except the furthest device from the PC/MPC. Also, you cannot exceed a total length of SCSI cable in any one chain. I think the limit is 16 feet, but I could be wrong.

mm I found some type of thing that said "1" on the back, but I couldent change it. no more things on the back...

there is 2 buttons on my zipdrive. witch is connected to my mp trough the scsi

mpc-zip-scsi.

Make sure the TERM on the zip is off. The Zip should be set to 5, I guess your HD is already 1, but if your HD is the last device, it must be terminated. If theres no term switch then there should be an actual termination plug/jumper looking thingy that fills the slot that another drive would come out of the HD on. Hope this helps.

Ive set the settings on the Zip... but there is no thing I can change on the scsi....

strange... I get the different partitions when I whant to format, but not when I whant to save.
