MPC1000 OS corrupt & can't update

My MPC1000 OS is corrupt (won't play samples or do much correctly). So I have been trying to update it with no success. I have tried 1.07, 1.06. 1.05 etc.
I have tried several formatted CF cards with either a card reader or hooking MPC directly with the Computer.
It is out of warranty and AKAI recommends tech shop($$$).
I tried searching forum with no luck

Does anyone have any advice/recomendations?

Have you tried to initialize to factory preset?
(turnin on the mpc while holding the ERASE key)

^^^try that if that dosent work making sure u doing everything right search something like problem with 1k os or something hope that helps

If nothing works..send it VST. They charge something like $60 an hour, and you pay shipping there and shipping back. Minimum you're looking at is $100+

Can you give me more info on VST, not familiar with them.
