help card reader install...

i SEARCHED already!!!!!! i can't find anything on installing the card reader without having to do the soldering and junk. is there anyone card reader i can install without having to solder and stuff?

Hey Mac, what do you have in your mpc now? Zip or floppy drive?

currently i have an internal floppy, external scsi zip250, and an external cd-rom. i plan on keep ing the zip for kats that i work with who have that, but i don't think i wanna use that as my main way to save files anymore. i think CF would be much better........

thanks for the reply BUT i had already seen that when i searched. my original post was concerning if there's anyway card reader i can buy or any way i can do this WITHOUT soldering and cutting and junk.......

The only way you can install the card reader without having to mod anything is if you have an internal zip drive installed. That way it would just be a straight swap. But, as you have a floppy drive, you will need to do the soldering, which isn't hard. If you've never used a soldering iron before just practice on something before you hit the mpc.

Soldering is actually not necessary. I used a junction block that you find at a local electronic store like radio shack - to join the wires together. All you do is cut the wires and strip them back a small bit and join them up via the junction block. When you see the block will see how straighforward the operation is.

Just keep to color code correct. red cables should only be joined with red cables and black only with black.

Use a terminal strip (junction block):



You don't need the whole lenght of it. Just use 2 conectors with the 4 screws and hacksaw off the rest you won't use.
