Newbie coming out the shadows

Just thought I'd stop lurking and say What's Up to the forum. I just got my MPC 4000 and the info posted here has already been a great help. I have it connected to my home stereo and Stanton turntable now while I'm waiting on the rest of my gear.My initial set-up will include

- M-Audio Studiophile BX5 Studio Monitors Speakers
- Mackie 1202-VLZ Pro Mixer
- PMac G5 Dual 2Ghz. I plan to run Logc Pro 7 so I ordered the memory doubled to 1GB.
- Stanton turntable

I think this would be enough for now until I can cop a Midi keyboard and Rack.

I was thinking about the Roland Fanton X61 and Motif ES Rack.

What do you think?

how you like the 4000??

I'm loving it so far. A little overwhelmed with all the features but I'm sure it will come in time. I am trying to get through the manual and the posts on the Newbie and MPC 4000 boards. Getting the time to put in is tough with a 9-5 and my daughter and wifey.

well, just my 2cent: i think you already heve your hands full with the gear you have. dont get caught up in the gearlust. you can make an album or so and then deside if you need some new gear. seems to me you have everything you need to make some nice music.

just my 2cents...

mpc 4000 and logic pro 7 should keep you going for a fair while. a midi keyboard might be nice, but i deinately wouldnt get rack yet. you got enough on your plate alredy from the sounds..

Thanks for your thoughts. I am going to hold off on the rack. I want to master 1 or 2 pieces of gear first before I buy more. Gotta save money as well.

thats a good idea, have fun learning your gear. i dont own one, but reading the 4k forum, you have alot of learning to do

Read as much as the Newbie Bible and the 4k Bible as you can. That will help you out on the basics and keep you from receive the 4k vets ire too. A small tip get this guide Reason 3 Power ! from www.courseptr.com it will simply the 4k like you wouldn`t believe. Afterwards transfer what you learn back to the 4k.


Remember to read your manual too.
