didn't come

don't know when it will

may never come

although the mpc1000 is still an officialy supported product so some os update or other is probably inevitable

jack o'donnell, the breadhead who bought alesis and numark and turned their fortunes around, bought akai late last year

so akai probably busy reorganising, restructuring

various rumours of new mpc models in the works

general opinion on timestretch round here is ... use a computer

Use Ableton and Recycle

Ableton to stretch to your desired tempo (You can even set the warp markers all funky and back some really crazy sounding stuff)

Bounce to a wave or aiff file - import into Recycle, turn the grid on and chop it up into 1/4 1/8 or 1/16's and then bounce down to wav files

import the individual slices into your favorite sampler and have fun

late

So, what you mean is that the mpc1000 cannot function as a real sampler by its self and it needs a third party program in order to do so? Then what's the reaaspn of buying one??

if you want to get technical, the mpc 1000 is what it claims to be: a sampler drum machine. a sampler is a device that captures and replay sound. that is what it does. the use of timestretch is a feature, NOT a neccesity. it's just like buying a car. would you say that since the car didn't come with leather seats, it's not a car????

besides, you CAN chop and zone in the 1000, you just can't (at this time) time stretch. and if you know how to chop properly, you don't need to time stretch.

the mpc 1000 may not have all the features of a rack sampler, and it's lacking in some midi controllable aspects, but it's still got a pretty hot little sampler in it for recording and playing back sounds. The CF media lodes fast, and you can bump up the ram to 128 megs. There's not a lot of fx or synth envelope stuff (although you can change the attack and release times), but it has no problem sampling. Also you can record while the mpc is playing back, which is dope. I think it's the pads and the sequencer that really make the mpc the shiz. if you wanna do crazy sample mangling then, you can use it to control a rack sampler or soft synth...

Stop hating on 1K's people...they're smaller and cheaper, that's a fact. They aint a 4K or 3K. They are a 1K they do what a 1K does. I mean you don't go in the 4k board and **** about how they don't fit in your backpack. Learn to use your 1K and master it, and it's all you need. And what sampler to you not use your computer with? I'm sure you all use your computer in conjunction with your sampler regardless of what you have.

it's just one of the best software for chopping samples. you can chop and save as .akp files which are recognized by the mpc. you can find out what it is by going here: http://www.samash.com/catalog/showitem.asp?itemid=35665 and for a more detailed description of what it can do, go to http://www.propellerheads.se/index.cfm
