Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Yo...

I wanna control certain parameters of my Virus Rack from my MPC...For example Resonance, Cutoff Freq, Delay Amt, etc....I know I could assign a LFO and I do this as well, however this restricts me creatively for certain kinds of efx I am trying to achieve....

The only way I can see how you could do this would be by sending PITCH BEND controllers to my Virus and then setting it within my synth to control the values I want....(MPC only sends limited controller data) This is a bit of a Pain though, what if I wan't to use the pitch bend...for bending the pitch.....ahhhh

Is there another way Guys that I don't know about 'cause Im a bit of a newbee on the MPC???????

What about other sequencers that record all controllers...????(EMU XL7)

Peace,

Why don't you just slave everything off of your PC? With some simple software and a midi interface(probrably like 60$) you could run everything together and have editing power of the virus on the pc.

As far as I know the MPC sends any kind of controller data. You must've mixed it up somehow.
The Virus rack has knobs (which send midi) right? Then the easiest way is just to connect Virus midi out to MPC midi in and MPC midi out to Virus midi in. Assign a special track for your controller data and set this to send to the right midi output and channel. Now you can tweak away on the virus and everything should be recorded in the MP. Since you probably already know how to record and play notes you probably already know this and then something else must be wrong...maybe the virus isn't sending or responding to midi controllers. Check the manual. If you enter step edit (on the MP) after recording controller data you should be able to see everything there (and also manually create your own data).

Another way would be to assign the slider on the mp to a control number (there probably is some sort of chart in the virus manual that tells you which CC does what).

My personal opinion is **** A PC. You seem to have a nice setup why waste time with a PC?
good luck!

Hmmm.....

DrumTek do you have experience doing this? I actually havn't tried this yet...Its just when I look in the back of the MPC Manual at the Midi Implementation chart It says that the only Controller values it sends and recieves are Velocity, PitchBend, Note on/off, Aftertouch, and this is indicated by a little "o" in the column next to it.... If I am wrong, then DrumTek you have made me the happiest man in the world...... From what you have said, are you saying that even if it doesn't record these values I could enter them in manually..?

I will have to test this out except I am studying for my MCSE over the next few weeks and hoped some one could give me a few tips (PS: This Forum is Great, BigUp)

I have done this before, I have Cubase SX and control all kinds of Software, Efx, and my Virus with it. Thats cool, but the whole thing is I wanna go Live with some Fat Beats and Gnarly Virus Basslines, I love the fact you can just Mute Tracks and Trigger the Next Seq with the Pads, that rocks.... So I got a MPC for the Beats and the Sequencing 'cause I know its gonna be rock solid timing wise and not crash live..!

Comments?

those specs are for the sampler, the sequencer can record and send all data.
