Got any blues?

I want blues. I dont have a single blues record. What to look for? Some tips on less famous blues artists/records like B.B. King? I know nothing about blues

bobby bland is one of my favorites but hes a little more well known
still hard to find his good records tho
got a bunch of his 45s

muddy waters of course

Leadbelly, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Robert Johnson (obviously), Howlin' Wolf, Charley Patton, early John Lee Hooker (the "country blues" stuff, stripped down), Lightnin' Hopkins, All of the field recordings made by that famous dude for the Library of Congress (I forget his name- can anyone help with this?). Bo Diddley. Little Walter. And yeah, blues records'll break the bank unless you go for re-issues.

i dont want blues to have blues. I want it to sample guitars Ive been listening to Since We Last Spoke from RJD2 during the last week.. that album is filled with guitars.
The only guitar riffs I have is from Mr. Knopfler .... and hes too well known. Then I heared this blues record from a friend and then it hitted me .... I need rare blues

Well, a lot of stuff I mentioned is good for "open" guitar parts (as often it's just guitar and a foot stamping) and of course good for vocal chops. As for "rare" blues, I don't really know. BTW, the recording guy I was thinking of was Alan Lomax, his set of recordings are excellent to listen to, and easy enough to sample - a lot of it is just singing without accompaniment (e.g, John the Revelator). If you chop properly, you should be able to get away with it.

at one record store here (the best place i can find blues at)
on average the blues records run from 15 to 30 bucks
prolly the most expensive average or records around here




on a side note, bobby blue bland plays a free concert in my city every year
i've seen him twice, thats freaking history
got to shake his hand, i was like a little girl is to britney spears
dude is prolly one of my fav artists of all time

good music cost MAN you can try to look in the Dbins but they wont be in good condintion and good luck finding them.

Bo Didd is da sheet! I picked up some crazy Leadbelly 12-string stuff a while back, too bad I left it at home in st. louis, when I go back for christmas its on...

i aint ever found any really good blues stuff in the dollar bin
but some of the best stuff i ever got came from there, i cant lie
