Poor Mans Time Stretch

I was playing around with my PC today and I loaded a sample I had on a wav file on Media Player. I grab some of my samples the PC. But In Media Player there is a speed setting and if you play around with it you can Speed up or slow down the file and it will always stay in the same key. The only thing about it is it starts to sound a lil crummy after you stretch it too far. Not really a good idea for production if you stretch it too far, but a cool toy. I might be late, don't know if it's been posted already. Actually I don't even know how time Stretch works, so I could be wrong. Just giving heads up

timestretch works the same way....bad results when u stretch it too far

So does the file save the change and playback properly, or do you have to sample directly off your PC's sound?

I sample off the PC.

any way to save it in the pc like that, then burn to cd? i dont use my pc and mpc together like that. they dont get along....

All I usually do is just load the song on my computer then just slow it down to the speed I want it then just grab it on my MPC. I usually have my songs saved in like WMA format that I sample from.

Not everybody has Acid, thats why

wasnt there a program called audicity or something it was free and had timestrech capabilities! i forgot the url but try asking someone on the 1000 board.

This program is so weak compared to the more popular wave editing programs (i.e. Sound Forge), but if you need a time-stretch feature so bad this is your best bet.

Why not just use the timestretch in Acid?

I don't own Acid, and I don't use time stretch that much. I was just saying this is a FREE way to do it for those that sample off of a PC. You get the same results for nothing out of the pocket.

You can't save the results of your timestretch via media player.

Come up with a FULL solution before getting people hype from something
that is half-azzed in the first place ya dig.

IE, ok u got the time stretch part figured out.
How are people going to save it?
How are they going to transfer that save to MPC?

You already know peoples are going to ask, so, give up the full solution.

like I said man. I just stretch it where I want then sample it into the MPC.

but if you're 17, 18 or so and don't have the money to get acid, sound forge and the like, audacity is perfect. "FREE"

theres a free demo on the site in which u can timestretch without to much distortion. imo it works better that the option on the 2000xl.
