How Do You Make The MPC 60 II The Master To ProTools

Folks,

I have an MPC 60 II connected via midi to digi 002. The Digi 002 goes into a G5. The Pro Tools LE software is connected to Reason via "rewire" and is the master to Reason. I'd like to make my MPC 60 II the master to protools thus making it the heart of my studio.

How can I do this?

...but neither does zero replies..but I would say why don't you slave your 60 to Protools?? You could slave Protools to the 60, but IMO MIDI isn't very stable. Since you have SMPTE capabilities with the 60 you could stripe a track with SMPTE code so your 60 will lock when triggered by your software. You may need an interface of some sort to do it the way you are thinking. Not sure off top.

Yeah... I'm pretty adiment about using the MPC as the master. I have it set up right now to where I can call the s950 through midi port B if need be and use midi port A to call on any of my reason racks seperated by channels. If I can somehow slave protools to my MPC using midi clock, I have complete control over my beat making process. My goal is to achieve the ultimate workflow on how I make beats so it can be as simple and efficient as possible so as to not stunt my creative process. I'm almost there. Thank you for the insight. Any more insight is welcomed.

It's a Pro Tools issue, check the PT manual, might not be possible.

I dont think this is possible. You can midi up all your gear to the 60, sequence, then slave the 60 to protools to record. I use midi beat clock..

Thats exactly what i do....Set Midi beat clock in PT & make sure your midi soft thru on the 60 is on!!!

Slave the 60 to tools & being as everything else will be controlled by the 60 in terms of your midi gear....pro tools will do the rest!!!

This in my 'Humble' opinion is the best option as you'll have no sync'ing issues...& the 60 will still be master of all other gear....except pro tools!!!

So the MPC 60 has no MMC capabilities? Is this only a function in the MPC 2000 ?
