depends on the sound you're after. I have a sl1200 and a Pt01. pt01 is audiowise kindacrap but grimey. I love the sound. 93 flavour!!

I did the same and got given a shitt old belt drive turntable, turned out to be great ...who says you cant scratch on them? I was able to .. just placed a piece of light plastic on the platter then some grease paper and sometimes a slip mat on top of all that. the fukr was slippery and would not **** spinning of the platter, plus you could never tell when it spun up again if you learnt how to release it.

lots of fun! if its all you can afford ..then enjoy what you have or can get!
