For anyone that's never been behind a real drumkit...

I think that's how I learned the most, learning how to seperate your legs and arms to play different and complicated things at the same time. I suggest that anyone hook up with someone with a drumset and play their favorite cd's and try to mimic them. I just hooked up with a friend that has a DW drumset with A Custom cymbals and a DW 9000 double kick, I haven't had this much fun in a while just spending hours making up patterns, I'm taping everything and will probrably upload an mp3 of my cheap azz messing with the drums if anyone's interested.

But, how tight could you actually make it?

Only the very good drumers can play really tight and its even harder to play a swinging beat let alone a swinging beat that is tight...(contradiction I hear you say...ah no..if you are a drummer you know what I am saying)

Didnt your arms and legs get sore? Drummers deserve more credit being a really good drummer is extreemly hard...

On the drumming tip, I bang beats out on surfaces nonstop and it's mos def my favorite thing to latch onto in any kind of music.

I love rock drumming for it's crazy mad fills and drum solos (no other style of music can match hard rock for sheer insanity coming out of the rhythm kit) jazz and funk for head-nod stuff and all types of electronic music (particularly jungle/dnb but also techno and gutsier house) for their airtight, impossibly constructed beats.

Just about the only types of beats I'm NOT feeling are the standard 1-2-1-2 house beat thumping away at 120 bpm, banging a hole in my head THIS BIG and annoying the shit out of me, and like a good number of 80s pop drum machine tracks that just make me wanna smash the radio open with a ball peen hammer.

When it comes to programmed drum tracks I like it one of three ways: either as realistic as possible, (ie old Shadow, etc) as insane as possible (ie Aphex & Co) or loose and danceable (as most hiphop is, Alchemist and folks like that)

I've got friends who drum and have captured some crazy biz coming off their drumheads, especially a cat I know has a digital drumkit and uses it in all kinds of out there ways.

Anyway I'm on a tangent but thought I'd throw in my nickel and dime.
