I HAVE ANALYSED WHAT IS AVAILABLE ON THE MARKET AT THE MOMENT AND COMPILED THE FOLLOWING LIST AS MY POTENTIAL CHOICES;-

2.M-AUDIO FW410
3.EDIROL UA101NUSB AUDIO INTERFACE
4.EDIROL FA101
5.EMU 1820M
6.RME HDSP 9632 XLR

PLEASE MAY YOU ALL LEAVE YOUR SUGGESTIONS AS TO WHICH ONE WOULD BE THE BEST PURCHASE AND WHY?? ALL HELP WILL BE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED. ALSO IF YOU BELIEVE THEIR IS ANOTHER BRAND WHICH I NEED TO BE LOOKING AT...PLEASE DO GIVE IT A MENTION PEEPS. MANY THANKS.M PEACE AND LOVE.

First: TURN OFF THE CAPS LOCK!!!!! It's like screaming.

Any soundcard with 8ins and S/Pdif or AES/EBU will do. You can use the 8 individual outs as well as the main (stereo) out (which is copied on the digital outs), so ideally you want 10 analog ins or 8 analog + stereo digital.

Depending on your way of working you might want to look for an audio interface with a monitor mixer. I've used my Motu 828mkII without an external mixer for a while, and I couldn't have done that if the 828 didn't have a built-in monitor mixer.

i used to have the FA101 which was cool and worked really well, but i sold it to get a mixer so i had better control over my mix, and then the stereo outs of the mixer will go to my mbox,
hope that helped

Edirol soundcards have optical digital in/out while MPC has coax. You'll need additional converter if you plan to use digital out.

M-Audio FW410 has only 4 inputs.

I don't know the others.

Thanks Peeps, i have noted some of the things which yuou have said...but if anyone is very knowledgeable on this further contributions will be very much appreciated. If you were in my position where you don't have a sound/audio card, and in desperated need of one...which 1 would you get and why?? many thanks and further contributions will be very much appreciated.

are you looking for something with 8 pre's as well? Or just 8 inputs?

10 inputs 10 outputs (8 inputs for 8 outputs)

I got the M-Audio 24/96 and it sounds great. Only 2 RCA I/Os though, so if you want the 8, go for the M-Audio Delta 10/10

So let me get this right. With a MOTU 828mkII I can hook up my MPC, Motif, MAC, and monitors without the need for a seperate mixer. What are the disadvantages of that if any?

buy one and find out... cause no one can tell you cause no one knows how you work. basically get one that helps you achieve what you need to do.

The m-audio 1814 is a good selection. it has 8 inputs, 1 ADAT input (8 channel) and two front panel inputs.

I have the 410. really it has on 2 inputs the other 2 are optical ins which you will need an optical cable running from your keyboard. in my case the Motif6. It took me a minute to figure how to hook it up with just the only the 2 ins but i love it. it has mixer control settings. I really havent dug into the advances of the 410. it fit my budget but if i had more dough i would have went with the 1814
