i like kanye .. i think the dude has skills with the samples and is a catchy type lyricst i mean to spit with out really cursing or killing someone now a days and sell records is kinda hard...but this album sucks i dont know what he was trying to do.. but damn...to many other people playing instruments on the album he should of just kept it mpc 2000 asr combo.. if its true thats what he uses....i give this album no stars.......only my opinion.....i guess he got the sophmore blues.........

I seen a few post saying Kanye doesn't flip the samples, he's just looping it blah blah blah and I would agree to a point but alot of producers do the same thing Alchemist, RZA, Muggs. I heard so many sample mixes and you'll be shocked on how little the samples are manipulated. I was a little disappointed in the beginning but there are samples that need no help just some bangin drumz and a change up.

I had a chance to listen to the album all the way through last night. Goes to show you how different our opinions are. This album is excellent. The arrangements are the best I've heard on a hip hop album this year. And Kanye got waaaaaaaaaay better on the mic; border line nice. These are actual songs, with concepts, stories and complete ideas. And the way the lyrics and music work together on this album is among the best I've heard in hip hop.

My only beef with this record is that all of the songs are over the top. Replacing two or three cuts with mellower songs with sparser arrangements would've balanced things out for me. And some of the ad libs seemed a bit excessive on one or two cuts.

I see the problem some of you have with it. It's more musical than any other hip hop record I can think of at the moment; far beyond the 4-8 bar loops we're accustomed to hearing in hip hop. But it's where I'd like to see hip hop go. Albums like this will facilitate the survival and growth of hip hop.

As for those unhappy with him having help, not many individuals could pull this sound off by themselves. Kanye would've needed Prince-like skills to have pulled this off alone. I can't think of a single hip hop producer that could've accomplished this.

My rating: 4.5 out of 5 - The half point off is for the lack of balance in the sequencing and slightly excessive ad libs on one or two songs.

I did mention him just loopin some issh, and thrownin drums over it. I know alot producers do it, but the samples he uses aren't anything special to be honest. When I heard Diamonds I was like if the rest of the album sounds this good then it will be pretty dope, but it wasn't. But it seems when come off of a dope first album its kinda hard to make the sophmore album just as good if not better, becuase ppl have alot of high expectations from the last album. Like I said me personally I don't like the album, but just a couple of songs. Thank god I didn't buy it.

thats what im saying.... artistically, the album is phenomenal, this album is above peeps heads... commercially, i dont think peeps are ready for it yet, as far as mainstream club play, etc..... and thats why im saying the same, he should have put a few songs on there that drops him back down to earth so peeps can relate a lil more... most peeps arent ready for this art of music in this album...

by the way, talent in rapping stop selling albums along time ago... its all about how your bring your point or message across on top of the music... even if u aint talking about nonthing
