any help appreciated....

i just got a laptop and tried recoding my beats from the mpc and some other stuff (mini disc etc) in through the mic input but theres nothing being picked up.... i thought i could could just go through mic input for now until i get proper souncard but it dont seem it want to listen.... i tried doing this is CEP and just windows sound recorder but im not getting any sort of input signal at all.......... does any one know why this could be....?

The sound card is not being recognized or may be muted. Check the laptop. I think that is the issue or go into mixer and make the output louder.

yeah, double click on the little speaker down near the clock and check what is muted and what is not, also, check into the "properties" and "Recording/playback" and make sure everything is cool.

Yeah, the line in is probably muted.

What program are you using to record?
Some programs you have to go into the settings/preferences somewhere and manually select your audio I/O.

yeah thanks for ur replies i swear i checked audio properties but when i checked again i found mic input was muted ..... and to think im doing a degree in computer science .........

i think i just need my eyes tested i been staring at that lil mpc lcd screen for too many nites
