okay, ive already made a beat on the mpc but i never came across the problems i have right now...

1. I have a vocal sample, i get it loaded up.... But what i do is set the Tempo according to the length of the sample... This shit is HELLA annoying, repeatidly playing a 25 second vocal sample over and over just to get it to fit within the bars....

^ is this how everyone else does this??? am i missing somthing because this is getting to my nerves, I read through the manual for a hour and came to no avail about other ways of doing this...... I though time correct had the anwser but i guess not....

2.simple question this time, how do you set a track to a drum pad..

im going to need some help with the first one, i cant get shit done until i know how to do this right.

much thanks peace

1. Time correct usually work well with drums cause they usually hit at a certain time, vocals on the other hand have WAY different timing differences than drums, vocals are not programmed so you will have to keep doing like you are doing cause that's the same way I do, I haven't figured out a way YET to do it any faster or easier. The manual only goes through the very basics and doesn't cover tricks of the trade (which is what you are asking), I wish it did though but there are too many out there.

2. Use the TRACK MUTE as far as I know. There's no way to ASSIGN a track to a pad as far as I know, if there is then someone needs to help me out too.. ANYONE?!?

well shit.

this is problem, i have a vocal sample that i want to have drums playing at one part and silent at another... this is kind of a problem if i have to set the tempo to 70.0 bpms just to fit the damn vocals.....

EDIT- just thought of a "mini" solution.... record just the drum sequence to the computer sav as wav then load as a sample.. ahhh but i think there may also be another anwser to this

there has to be some kind of anwser to this. I KNOW someone here knows some tricks of the trade or maybe a anwser to the problem

On the main screen STEP EDIT the drum track and delete the actual hits that you don't want.

You want the vocal sample to be silent or the drums? I was thinking drums?

To silent the vocal sample make a copy inside the MPC and chop up the copy. No need to take it outside the MPC as a sample cause then you loose quality. How's that?

lol.

what im trying to do is, I have a vocal sample, but for the sample to fit i have to set the tempo to 70.... and i want to play drums at one part of the sample and at another...... i obviously cant do this because the tempo is to low...

so i thought i would just sample the drum recordings into the computer then bring back to mpc and just play over the vocals with that.....

Actually, that is the only way i think it could possibly work? unless someone else has a tip....

Set the tempo higher, play the drums then set it back down low.

yeah but the drums dont stay at the same tempo... i could play them at a higher tempo and then slow then tempo down but what is the point of that, all comes out the same way?

i dont think there is a way around this

lol

Probably not. I'm lost as to how you are trying to get the drums going.

lol

i have to set the tempo to a certain amount so the vocal sample can work.

but when i do this i cant get my drums at the speed i want, because the tempo is higher....

is recording the drums and then resampling them the only way to go about this?

I understand this part cause I've done it before.

You will have to either speed up the tempo so the drums can hit good and/or tune up/down the vocal, this WILL cause unnatural sounding vocals depending on how MUCH you tweak the vocals.

You said before you would have to sample the beat on PC then place it back into the MPC, how will that help, are you going to stretch the beat to match the vocals or what?

yes. that is the only way to go about doing what i want i think....

I dont want to up or down the vocals because i have it exactly as i want.

i dont want to set the drums to 70 bpms, because this is not opera music

So, there is only one possible solution, sample just the drums into the comp and bring it back to the mpc, doing this would keep the bpms as i want so the vocal is good.....................

but I KNOW there is a easier way around this.

This crap is so pissing me off, im seriously considering selling my mpc and going back to fruityloops......

Selling the MPC, you gotta be going through serious stuff to even speak in tongues of that nature. Haha.

But wouldn't bringing the beat back in be the same cause you will still have to play it at the same tempo right? How are you going to change the tempo of the beat, tune/up/down/timestretch or what I'm curious now.

lol, i dont think you understand

record the drum loop into the comp, then send it back to mpc, i dont think i will have to do any pitching/stretching..... im pretty sure this would work...

im just waiting for someone to come around and tell me a easier way.

but this board seems to be pretty quiet today
