He definitely used the SP in there somewhere, but I think he said he did at least four or five of the beats in his hotel room in Brazil with just the SP303, a portable record player and a borrowed tapedeck, there are pictures of the hotel "studio" on the Stones Throw site in the Madvillainy picture section.

Can you midi sync/trigger sequenced patterns from let's say ableton live, cubase, mpc?

That way you could be making the body of a beat on the road.
At home you could plug in a midi cable and add new layers(synths, bass, guitar, scratches...) to your track!!!

And what about recording vocals on the road with a shure dynamic mic :D ?

Can you easily match several minutes of vocals to a sequenced track?

You can't record another sample while one is playing...as far as I can tell...I don't have the english manual...so I've been using sp303 manual. But I don't think u can do it.

Here are some audio samples....no external processing...

1. endoftimes.mp3 - built-in mike and reverb, guitar and voice
2. realtimereverse.mp3 - press a button and sample reverses in realtime.
3. reverbsaturate.mp3 - loop with reverb balance all the way on.
4. reverbshort.mp3 - loop with a short reverb applied
5. subsonic.mp3 - the subsonic effect...it can go lower than in this example.
6. lo-fi normal.mp3 - comparison between lo-fi and normal sampling
7. loop - original 90bpm.mp3 - original loop
8. loop - 115bpm - same loop sped up to the maximum
9. loop - 60bpm - same loop slowed down (it can go slower)

thanx man, now i really am excited. that subsonic effect is amazing. this machine alongside the 100 will be a deadly combination. so is there really real-time time stretching?

yep...that subsonic effect rocks...instant bassline...it goes down pretty low...lower than my speakers can handle :D . The timestretch is realtime...just hit a button and then dial in your bpm. The different example bpm loops are done by realtime....When you hear individual loops timestretched it doesn't sound so good...but lay a few over each other and its pretty sweet.

ah man watching that video the sequencer is prety weak like my 303. i think this would be dope with the batteries though. hopefully i can get one of these for the bus. haha

Does it also have regular pitching up/down or just the timestretch? I need regular pitching. I think the timestretch sounds pretty lame, like most realtime timestretchers; the one in Live doesn't sound good to me either.

The lo-fi mode sounds cool though, almost SP1200-like.

I like that they made the sequence switching wait for the end of the pattern - on the 303 it just switches directly...

The basic sequencer is aight... No swing quantize means you'll have quantize off most the time, which is a good thing.

Overal, I'm liking this machine. 10 banks of 12 samples mean you could do a whole bunch of beats before even saving anything! Couple this unit with a Numark PT01 or VestaX handytrax and you have a fully battery-powered setup!

yeah that poping and shit comes in when you try to pitch ish down. on my 303 pitching up works cool but pitching down **** everything up.

idk dude with the 404 can you try mess with the realtime timestrech for us?? thanks
