.. aight, i heard that you can trigger a sound to stop playing, by assigning a pad, when hit, to stop playin that sound. How do you do this? What im doing now is, settin the sample to 'mono' and when i want it to stop playin (lets say at exactly the 2nd bar), i put the same sample in 2.0.00 but lower the velocity to 1 (they wont let you put 0 :(). This works BUT sometimes, if your payin close attention, you will still hear the sample in the background. Alright, so i think i explained my problem, hopefully. So if yall can just help, id appreciate it, thanks.

i dont know how you do it on the 2000XL but on the 3000/60 hit sounds>soft key 2> and then assign a cutoff pad.

Go into paramater screen hihglight playmode(mono or whatever).

Then push open window, you should be able to figure it out from there.

Yea i just tried it, doesnt seem to be workin. So in the 'mute assign' table thing, it has a note (49/A-13-sound1). I want this sound to stop playin when i hit the (79/C-13) pad. So i put (79/C-13) in the 'mutes off: note:' part, right? But its not working for me :(. Should 'sound1' be in mono, poly, or does it matter? Does the cutoff pad have to have a sound in it??

Thanks for your help so far

Select an open pad. Open the parameters screen highlight mono or poly and hit open window. There should be something in this screen at the bottom that says "Cuts off sound...." highlight this area and then hit the pad with the sound you want to cut off. Go back your sequence and on the second bar hit the open pad that you selected. This should cut off the sound at the second bar.

I'm not in front of my MPC to this is from memory, may not be 100% accurate.

Wrong, it's the other way around. It should look like this:

note:79/C-13-off
mutes off:
note:49/A-13-sound1

oh ok, i get it, you have to pick a pad that has a sound in it. Is there a way to do it so you can pick one with out a sound, cuz i want it to compltely shut off

Just load a small sample(hi hat, snare) and go into the mixer screen and turn the volume all the way down on the pad that you want to trigger the mute.
