mpc pad 187 speeding up during transfer

i recently learned how to move items from the computer to my mpc via the usb. For some reason though the **** sounds are pitched up when they get to my mpc. has anyone else experienced this on thier mpc 1000

What does this have to do with pad187? I suspect if you transfer the files yourself using the built in file copy application of your operating system, that they will still be at a higher pitch. Sounds like you should investigate the properites of the original files.

i am assuming the reason he mentioned that program is because he is trying to create a mpc1000 pgm file. and after creating said pgm file he then moves the file over to the mpc. at which point he notices samples that are now sped up.

i don't know why that happens. a suggestion might be try to bypass that software by transfering the samples from your computer directly to the CF card and arranging them in a new pgm on the mpc, if the samples are still sped up, then it's not the pad187 prgram but more of how you either recorded or edited the sample itself. if it's the latter, then you know how to fix it. if it's the former, then i would try to re download pad187 and try it again. remember that the samples has to be 16/44.1 .wav format.

Like Sparq said, the sample must be either mono or stereo and ONLY 44 100 khz or they will speed up / slow down on the MPC.

yeah check the sample rate pad187 works fine for me.

Just dump the file to the mpc why are you using pad187 and load up the wav or whatever assign to a pad or chop it up.

change it to mono and add a mute pad and u can change the tempo there

Yeah, I've noticed the sped up sound of some samples with MPC Pad 187 too.

Unfortunately I don't expect there'll be a fix for the playback though, cause I'm just using the Apple provided sound player stuff built in to Mac OS X. I think you'll find that the samples are also sped up in QuickTime and in the Finder Preview.

A work around would be to always play the wavs back at a specified sample rate, but then I'd need to write more code

- I should also note that MPC Pad 187 doesn't ever edit wav files, all it does when you choose "Export" is copy the wav files into a folder with the pgm file. So the MPC Pad 187 isn't messing with the samples ever, no different than copying them in the Finder.

Use ak.sys but create the program before hand in the mpc and be sure that it is a drum program otherwise your sounds will pitch up like a piano because 187 must be making a chromatic sample layout or your mpc is interpeting it as such. After you made the program open it in ak.sys and then make your drum layout in that. I know with my 4000 in ak.sys there is a pad layout just the same as the layout in 187. I dont see why this wouldnt be the same for the 1000 since its a feature of ak.sys and not the 4000. And if all that doesnt work out for you just drag a folder of sounds into your 1000 memory and assign like people have for ages.
