Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

You have to make sure that the jumpersettings are set to MASTER. The manual of the synchrotech reader shows you how to do this.

It is set to master. I set it up like it says in the manual. I messed with the jumpers and I finally got it to show up, but it says no floppy device. It doesn't show a Atapi connection when I scroll through the drives. All it says is no floppy device. So I connected an IDE Atapi hard drive and it did the same thing. No floppy device, and Atapi does not show up in the drive selection.

All the lights are on and it says MPC2000XL on the screen. And it locks up.

I've just bought my MPC 2000XL and I love it but it only has a floppy drive. I was looking for days to see where I can get an IDE Card Reader from the UK. Even tried that German site which was mentioned in the other thread but they don't deliver to the UK... I found that out after hours of trying to translate it..

Anyways I've finally come across a site that delivers to the UK and I've ordered this card reader:

http://www.compuapps.com/products/omnip ... 07-4-1.htm

Has anyone here got that? I hope to god it works coz I paid $60 for delivery alone on top of the cost of the damn thing.

I got the latest OS on my MPC so hopefully should be ok, but can anyone using it confirm that it's ok?

Can't help you with that first part, but I bet the problem you're having with the MPC locking up upon boot-up is because the internal drive isn't connected properly. As far as I know, if the drive isn't connected properly and doesn't get power, the OS won't load, and you get what you got.
So my advice would be to check that everything is connected correctly and you didn't knock anything while you had it open.

INDEKS; Might want to check this thread out.

everything is connected. Then only thing that I disconnected is the floppy cable from the motherboard. everything else I didn't touch at all. I was thinking that it may be the cable I am using. I tried two different IDE cables, but I didn't have success with any of them. I was wondering if there is a certain IDE cable to use. For some reason it will not show an ATAPI device in the device selection.

Edit:

I finially got it to work. I plugged in the IDE cable differently than before and use different power connectors and it finally works. CF is a beautiful thing.
