please walk me through TIMESTRETCH on SOUND FORGE

hey guys,

I'm trying to timestretch in Sound Forge for the first time and I'd appreciate some help with it...

I've got a 4 bar loop that I'm working with and using a tap tempo program on my computer it appears to be around 80BPM and I wanna speed it up a bit t say 86BPM

could someone please explain how I do this in Sound Forge?

also, is there a better/more accurate way of working out the tempo of a loop than tap tempoing it?

when you open up the timestretch plug where it says "input format" select tempo> where it says "initial tempo" enter the original tempo of the loop> where it says "final tempo" enter the tempo you want the loop to be timestretched to> experiment with the "mode" to get the best sound

to find the tempo of the loop using SF just highlight the whole file> look at the time that is displayed at the bottom right(see pic)> divide 960 by that number (240 for every bar)and thats your bpm(assuming the loop is chopped correctly)

in general is there a MODE in SF is best or most reccomended? The first one in teh list sounded fine so I used that but I'm interested for future timestretching

The best MODE is to use your ears and listen for what will work in your track. C got the good advice goin.
