weird sounds when loading from zip drive

I have an internal IDE zip drive in my MPC2000XL. I've noticed that when I have an external synth connected to the MIDI out and I load files from the zip drive, some spurious MIDI notes are being sent to the synth - it makes some weird notes which get stuck on - so I have to hit the Panic button on the synth to clear the notes. Has anyone else experienced this, or know of a way to correct it?

Look through your manual for MIDI local and external notes on/off.

OK, I'll check the manual again. Although I'm a little puzzled about why it would be sending any MIDI output at all while loading a file from the zip disk, regardless of what the external MIDI settings are.

Oh, OK, my bad I should have slowed down enough to actually digest what you were saying. That is weird that that happens. I don't have an answer to that one except the good old RELOAD the OS thing. Sometimes troubleshooting can drive you ccazy when it's easier to just reload and it saves time.

OK, thanks for the tip. I'll try re-installing the OS. I guess it's not a major problem - just a little bit annoying. Thanks for the help.
