Is it the mastering or the mixing? My tracks always sound loud and thumpin' on my monitors but then the bass and stuff sounds kind of distorted when my tracks get listened to on regular house audio equipment. Is is that I have my levels to high? If it is what do I do cause I like to play my tracks LOUD when I'm making them so I turn the levels up. Then I just record them like that. I don't think the problem is cause I take my samples hot! I usually sample at like -2 or -1 db's. ???

Everything I do is -1db or -2db. The last thing I do mastering is usually brickwall peaks and maximize the volume of the whole file.

It might be your mixing.

Yeah I don't really do alot of mixing. I was just wondering if it was that or if it had to do with my tracks not being mastered. Anybody else got some tips on this. :D

i think its more about your mixing then mastering. your tracks dont have to be mastered to sound decent.
