All the MPC's hold their value pretty well. The prices won't change that much anytime soon, even after the 2500 comes out. The 2500 will be in a different price bracket than the 1000. There will still be tons of cats buying it, but it will shift more from the store purchases to used purchases for the machine. The 1000 will still the choice for budget minded beat makers who want a newer MPC with some frills. Especially since the 2500, will most likely suffer from OS issues for the first year or so, don't expect major changes in prices or perceptions about the MPC line.

Basically, I don't see these MPC's really competing with each other too much. The 2500 will be at least twice (New 2500 vs. a used 1k) the price of the 1k and that alone will deter many buyers from it.

Thats a good point too plus the 2500 is much bigger then the 1k....Some people buy the 1k for size....That is one of the reasons I got it!!!!

i'm keepin my 1k and gonna cop a 2.5k when it comes out. all i'm sayin is that this new machine is gonna offer everything the current 1k owners want ie timestretch, zoning, chop, etc.. and plenty of those folk will be tryin to upgrade.

and its not that much bigger. 5" one way and less than 1/2" the other.

Well I guess it isn't really that much bigger but people will still want a 1k just like people still got 2k's when 4k's were so much $$$!!!!

i do have timing issues sometimes because i think the timing is too tight , so when im using my sound module i turn off TC or if i use TC i move all the notes back 4 points and this will usually line up drums and the synth patches.
So i guess for me its the midi timing is too tight or fast, i dont know but im working with TC off so it doesnt matter to me.

Same here. sometime i just need to do acouple takes if my timing ain't right, or use the erase button while recording.
I like using note repeat sometimes though.

on my first 1k i had lots of problems. timing was not one of em. i think the feel on the 1k is really funky, like good funky. and quite a bit different than the 2kxl. the xl has the old school 90's style swing to it, there's no mistaking that. the 1k has a more modern feel to it, for my stuff i actually prefer it!

i have turned off time correction almost completely for all of my drum programming...it in turn has done wonders for my perception of the mpc 1000's timing. i also like doubling the resolution as ONE says - gives you more room.

doubling the resolution, I have not delved into that, but I can understand the principle behind it though...
never had a use for it, I dont trim my drums so tight like you guys do... so i always have a swing already before i even start messing with timing...

anyway what I really wanted to say was....

THEY DONT CALL IT PRO AUDIO GEAR FOR NO REASON...

the assumption made behind this is, your already meant to know about timings 4/4 1/8 etc... quantising.....midi...you know obvious stuff...
oh well...

just wanted to take this chance to say what has been said a million times

that doubling the timing shit is really phat it makes the sequencer so much better, ESPECIALLY if you work with t.c. off!! much props to whoever first posted that.,....
