Do all internal zip drives work with the XL?

I just got myself a used 100mb internal zip drive, with no cables or nothing. How do i know if this thing will work with my mpc? I don't have the knowhow/guts to install it myself, and i don't want to spend big bucks on hiring someone to try and install it just to find out it doesn't work.

I think the first thing i should do is to see if the drive itself works by hooking it up to my pc, right? But after that, if the drive works, should it work with my mpc?

there's not much info on the drive, it says:

And that's about it. The guy who i bought it from had the nerve to send it to me in a normal envelope so it might have gotten some serious hits in the mail cheap bastardd just wanted to cut down on the shipping costs!!

well yes install it first in your pc and see if it works. When you transfer it to your mpc make sure it is set to MASTER via those little dip switches on the back. But unfortunately I can't tell you how that's supposed to be since I got no internal zip anymore.

When I goggled out your model number it said SCSI connector.

For internal it would need to be ATAPI.

aah, google.... why didn't i think of that!

so you're saying that the drive won't work in my mp? damn what a waste of money.... guess i'll just have to stick that shyt in the computer. and the drive needs to be, what, ATAPI? Damn i've got some reading up to do...

Well actually you could install a scsi zipdrive in an mpc2kxl, you just need to connect it to the internal scsi coneector instead of the ide connector.
