what up. alright i got an mpc 1k and a casio wk-3100. WHat im tryin to do is connect the mpc to this keyboard that has an internal sound module and use my mpc as the sequencer. i've done everything that it says to do on page 46 of the instructions manual (Connecting the MPC1000 to the MIDI keyboard with the sound module). I've turned off the local control on the keyboard so my mpc now controls the keyboards sound module. Ok well everything works fine with the sequencing of the keyboard but MY PROBLEM is that when i load up a program into my mpc so i can start adding drums snares, etc. the sounds from the keyboard play at the sametime i hit the pad. For example if i were to hit a pad for my snare, the snare and a piano note would play at the same time. The same things happens when i press a key on the keyboard. I 'd like to know how to seperate them. Thanks for any help on this. bet

hmm this is confusing. the MPC manual says to have the KB local control off so that the mpc can control the KB and the KB's internal sound module seperately. thats how i have it right now and that part works. i have the manual for the keyboard aswell but im havent found anything in it about the midi clock. I think it is on thought because if i press record and start to record a sequence and play a riff on the keyboard, what i play on the keyboard does loop. the problem is that when i have a program loaded into the mpc and do this whenever i hit a pad or a key i get two sounds. and i wanna know how to fix that so they are seperate. i wanna be able to play my drums, snares and whatever is loaded onto my mpc as the program i am using seperate from playing a riff on the keyboard. i hope that makes sense. tell me if it doesnt and ill try to word it better.

just turn the midi channel to off on the main page beside the program name.

thanx for the reply but that still doesnt solve my problem. The mpc manual says to do this: Turn the keyboards local control off so that the keyboard and its internal sound module can be used seperately. then go midi out from the keyboard to midi in of the mpc. This records the performance from the keyboard into the mpc instead of the perfromance being sent to the sound module. then from the midi out of the mpc go to the midi in of the keyboard wich is supposed to control the internal sound module. Now i have all this hooked up just like it says i should. Ok now on page 23 of the mpc manual it tells me how to "record performance data from the external midi keyboard to the mpc1k and play sounds from the external sound module. i follown all the steps up to step number 5 which is "play the keyboard to make sure the sound module works." i hear nothing. its says check my connection if i dont hear any sound. Well my connection is correct according to what they told me to do on page 46. I don't know where im going wrong and damn am i frustrated. Heres some more relevant info: when i record and play the keyboard i dont hear what i played until after it starts playing back again. i'd like to be able to hear it when i am recording. My BIGGEST problem is that when i have a program loaded into the mpc and i press a pad or a key i hear two different sounds. My goal is to Play a riff on the keyboard, record it as a sequence then by using the pads on my mpc, use the program i have on the mpc to add my drums, snares, hats, etc. but i cant do that for example when i press a pad for my snare, i get my snare and a keyboard sound at the same time. Vise versa when i press a key on the keyboard i get the keyboard sound and a sound from the mpc. I know this is alot i just wanted to sum it all up and be as specific as possible so maybe some genius can help me lol. I really appreciate any help i can get

maybe you need to play around with the settings in the midi page. go to the midi mode and set "soft thru" to "as track", Active track can be ALL.
Then when you just want the selected track to control an mpc program make sure that "Midi" is set to off, and when you want a track to just control a sound on your keyboard set the Pgm to OFF and set the Midi: to the channel that corresponds to the channel that has the sound you want to play on your keyboard. That should do it
woooooot!
