I gotta admit it, I've been blown away. I happened to stumble upon a free studio version of Melodyne on the internet (wink wink) and MAN!!! This thing is sick. It makes everything so easy and the editing possibilities are scary.

esskodebeatz, dunno if this is an obvious answer, but the way i work out the BPM for an accapella is by playin the accapella against a metronome (in say Logic or Cubase), and simply increasing or decreasing the metronome's BPM until it clicks in time with the vocals.

But boi, i've jus downloaded the MixMeister's BPM Analyzer so buh-bye to that long and archaic method. Shout out to The Beat Conducter for that link. WE NEED MORE LINKS LIKE THAT!

Maybe you can try using a turntable and actually match the BPM...

THat shit is DOPE as **** man accurate too, ive been testing it out on all my beats and the most its been off is by .02 BPM.

Whatever happened to the TAP TEMPO button on the MPC? I try to use my MPC for everything, then if it can't do the job, I go to my PC.

I just tap tempo on the mpc and adjust it as needed

Im wit mic pro and poltergeist on this one. I tried that bpm analyzer and its dead on with beats but I cant see it bein any good for acapellas

u can never get an accurate reading with an accapalla casue of the nature of the file all u do is get the the orginal song and throw it on there, get the BPM and use that for the acapalla

im knowin, without the original beat though the easiest way for me to get the bpm is tap tempo

I dont have any experience with Melodyne but it will have to be pretty damn quick to beat Live In live you drag the vocal line in and then just pull the markers around, getting timing right down to the nearest syllable.. It takes seconds..

Our latest track "Streets of London" has spoken vocal in it. Obviously we wanted certain syllables to be beat aligned. Was a very quick process.

I used Steinberg sequencers for 19 years prior to Live and this would have taken me an age in Cubase..!

Plus, if your clip has a beat in it, Live will match the tempo for you.

make a track on the mpc with just hi hats. tick...tick...tick...tick...

play the acapella on your computer and slow down or speed up the tempo on the mpc until the hats match up with the vocals

I always use the TAP TEMPO button just to get an idea of what the BPM is. It's not accurate but it does the job. I only use the MixMeister BPM Analyzer when I'm doing a remix of a song.
