had a quick look at those models, none of them appear to have usb? i could be wrong cos' i just took a quick glance. but surely they'd need usb to be of any real use?

If I recall correctly there were quite a bit of posts from people who opened up the 1k and noticed that there is space in there for a hd and a connector of some sort as well. I'm guessing these are internal. I haven't looked at the pics yet though.

The usb on the 1k is nothing but a card reader, much like the usb ones that you can buy for your PC. For technical reasons, I don't see the 1k being able to support a hard drive through USB. And why that is? I'm sure someone will be along to explain that...................eventually. hahahaha

Sorry, I just think someone else would do a better job of explaining that....if it does in fact need clarification.

ah shit! when i looked inside my mpc 1k, in the ram-slot-thing, i doesnt seem to be any space for a harddrive, but the connector is there.

but it would be great with a 40 gb drive. insted of cf cards. or something:P

I thought the empty space is more towards the left of the CF card slot in an area that the ram slot doesn't show. I haven't opened up the 1k, besides the panel so I could install ram. I'm only going on what I can recall from posts from about a year and a half ago from other members.
