can't wait till someone tries one on their
mpc1000

you might need an os update even though it says tested and approved.

why you waiting for?

"MPC 2000XL & MPC 4000 both use FAT32"

The MPC2000XL usinjg FAT32 would be news to me. Some Akai Pro machines like the s5/6k support FAT32.

"why you waiting for?"

A proper 'proprietary' HD connector. Got an idea on where to get one?

hahahahahahhahahahah......i best keep my mouth shut!! before i upset someone...

I dont understand why the laughing, I mean whats wrong with saying what drive will perform the best, for example if you look at the Toshiba and the Seagate they have different specs like seek times and cache.

so say what you want to say i promise you will not upset me man

eh ... this is bizarre, list approved drives before even announcing such a feature or offer a supporting os? downright odd

the connector looks like nothing i've ever seen and i've been pulling apart computers and music tech for the best part of a decade - must learn how to put them back together one day ;)

so i think we'll be looking at an upgrade kit for the caddy and connector from akai, equals $$$

2k5 teaser at http://www.akaipro.jp/ btw

just bought the toshiba 40 gb for mad cheap ($50 US)..maybe not such a good idea, right now anyway, as it will probably just be sitting around until we figure out how to connect this damn thing!

Yeah, it honestly seems like you jumped the gun there. Just be patient...all the details will soon be out, and there will be no need for guessing.

ONE wrote:I don't see the 1k being able to support a hard drive through USB. And why that is? I'm sure someone will be along to explain that...................eventually. hahahaha. Sorry, I just think someone else would do a better job of explaining that....if it does in fact need clarification.

The MPC1000 is a USB 'slave' device rather than a USB 'host'. Slaves can connect to USB controllers but not control USB devices themselves. The two ends of a USB cable are different to reflect this.

MAYBE we'll be lucky and it'll be the same deal as with the ram - perhaps we'll be able to get al l the parts ourselves for a quarter of the price rather than picking everything up through akai...

let's keep each other aware.

regardless, this is fantastic news.

dont know how this hard drive would work (without a OS update). because when you go to the load/save screen there is only save to "Memory Card & Internal memory". Unless its gonna recognise the hard drive as a memory card, i know it wont be internal memory because thats the flash memory area. :?:
