cleaning my mpc 3000 (pads, etc.)

Whats up MPC forums?

I was sittin here looking at my 3000, and I realized its about as dirty as a strip club toilet seat (you know, the one on the end no one ever used after the plunger dissapeared) . So anyway, is it possible to clean the rubber parts on an mpc 300? The pads, arm rest, etc? Is there a special solution that would work, has anyone ever done this? Thanks

buy new pads.. I think they are the same size on all the mpc except for the 1000.. Write vst services and email about cleaning the rest though cuz I got a droplet of water on my 2000xl when I had it and it **** up the paint.

You can clean the rubber with a damp cloth, some windex or F409, but test that over the writing before doing the whole thing, I never had a problem, but it's good to be sure while you are doing it.

Thanks guys. I think I'll get new pads, one of mine doesnt work anyway, so it would work out for the best.

getting new pads won;t improve the sensors. just pull out the pads and wash them in the sink, you'll have to do the same to install new pads. then you can clean the pad sensors with a cloth damp with alcohol (very little so it evaporates quick) and that might get your busted pad back, otherwise you will need a new sensor plate for your MPC to fix that pad.

ive been wondering about this on my 60, the pads feel kinda wack compared to my homies 2kxl... maybe i should try cleaning the sensor pad or whatever myself, how difficult is it? you got any info on this Elmacaco? how do i open up the 60II to get to the pad sensors? i searched the 60FAQ but didnt see anything related to pads or sensors, did i miss something?

^^^^^^ would like to know too. I once opened up my 60 and it looked durrty. But I didn't know where to begin with, afraid I would damage some hardware parts. If anyone got some kind of photo-tutorial cleaning the interior of your mpc / pads, would be much appreciated..

It worked like a charm, thanks man. I was a little nervous opening it up, but its really not that bad, just some screws, and remembering where everything plugs in. I cleaned the pads in the sink, and they look and feel alot better. The sensors I just wiped off, as there was some dirt in there, and that took care of it.
Also, I used Fantastik all purpose cleaner to clean the mpc itself, and this things shines like crazy now! Looks like it just came out of the box, no joke. I tried a little bit first to make sure it wouldn't hurt the paint, and than cleaned the whole thing, even the rubber arm rest with it.
My MPC never looked so good!

I don;t have much time now, but I'll get at yall about cleaning your 60 inside. AS for how to open a MK II, its harder than a Mk I but if you Download the installation instructions PDF for the Roger Linn Upgrades it shows how to disassemble, after that it's just a screwdriver and common sense, and follow the instructions given to funky fresh. if it's dusty use a can of compressed air to blow it out, and remember, unplug your 60 before going in like this.

I'll do a picture guide on howto open and disemble your 3000 soon.
If you do the 60s I could cover the 3000 side of this and we could just add this to the faq as you suggested.
I already cleaned mine, but I could still show how things workout.

COVER THEM WHEN YOU'RE NOT USING THEM.

You'd be surprised at how much grime can build up over the course of a couple weeks. I cover mine and you should see the film of dust and other crap that builds up on my dust covers. It's preventative maintenance. Unless you want to be opening up your machine every few months because something is malfunctioning due to dirt buildup, follow my advice.
