Is the 2000xl really that....?

Is it really that hard to make it a portable machine? It's not really THAT big, I mean I could carry it between my studio and home easily right? I mean I have to do the same with my turntable, and that piece is big. What I am really saying is that I'm looking into buying the 2000xl (god this sounds like a noob question) as I have been for a while. I really don't want to wait to pay close to $2000 for the 2500 because that's my other option. I've gone there and done that with the 1000 - and I've come to the conclusion that it's just ugly (yea, I'm superficial about it - oh well...). So the plan is to find a 2000xl (any1 selling?) with the expanded 8-outs and a zip or CD-ROM.

Is this a bad idea? Am I really going to miss that much by not going with the 1000 other than the USB option which I wouldn't really use anyway?

Its all up to your preferences. I mean we could go on all day about the pros and cons of the 2000XL and the 1000. Its totally up to what u feel works best for you.

And oh yeah i have a MPC2000 for sale but no 2000XL jus in case U change yo mind.

Haa, yea I have already been over the pros and cons enough. Thanks for the offer too, I'm lookin at "xl"s only - not interested in the straight 2000. I just figure that spending big bucks on a brand new MPC like the 2500 wouldn't be a great idea. Although I think it looks like an awesome piece of hardware I'm still hesitant and I think I'll have to wait for some reviews first.

get the XL and save some loot. The 2500 will be a waste--chopshop---OK WE GOT ZONING. How u gonna be a LAZY beatmaker. 2500 is totally uncalled for.

That's exactly what my gut tells me - I've been feinding the 2000xl for a long time now so I might as well just act on it. Hard to find nice stuff on ebay though - if I'm gonna buy the 2000xl I'm goin' used - this isn't a bad idea right?

i just got a 2kxl off of e-bay with 8 output maxed out ram for £300

ok the expression fader is broken but that is easily fixable i think the part costs £2 or somthing like that. i'd say it was a good investment as i can solder quite well so it will only cost me £2 to fix. but yea i'd say deffo get one 2nd hand it's better than paying £££'s for brand new and then having to shell out for expansions etc.

Wait till the 2500 drops, then you'll be able to find an XL for even less than you can now.

What's the deal? I really think that it's a better deal to buy the 2000xl and then if I need more cop the 2500. All that other stuff that the 2500 offers doesn't really affect me because I'm running a DAW.

No, I was saying that when the 2500 comes out, the price of the 2000xl will drop cause cats will be sellin 'em to buy the "HOT NEW SH!T", so wait til then and you'l find xl's cheaper than you can now

That's what I am hoping definately... especially since I'd prefer to buy one of the newest MCD versions - despite that ugly color - I heard that it processes faster than the older models and I'm sick of hearing about busted faders, screens, and 16 levels issues with the pads.

IMO i would wait for the 2.5k, i understand the 2kxl has zoning and all and the 2.5k has chopshop but that's not all. the 2.5 will have more memory, 10 outs standard, hard drive/cd burner (optional) plus CF slot standard. and smaller. again this is just my opinion.
