Sorry guys, you probably get asked this one a lot, but hey, one more won't hurt right??!

I write a load of stuff at home using a HDD recorder. Alot of Nine inch nails / Vast / Celldweller type stuff, the whole samples, synth and guitar dealy. Got a pretty mean set up other than my excenptionaly embarrassing drum machine! I really need something that'l give off some better sounds and the fact that the MPC1000 can be used to trigger samples and things is even better. Does it come with any decent pre-loaded samples or is it recommened just to get a hold of some WAV drum samples and use those?either way i need something bad, can't stand writing songs with this no more! Im hopin this would be a good addition to my set up.

Any help will be HOOOOOGELY appreciated, I'll be sure to send you something nice!!

Cheers guys

Well I think the MPC1000 could fit nicely in anybody's home studio depending on your budget. I know for a fact its great for hip-hop oriented grooves because that's what I bought it for. The pre loaded sounds give you an idea of what this piece of hardware can accomplish, which is a lot, but before long you'll be combing the highways getting new sounds, whether you're making them yourself or buying them.

Based on what you appear to be into (NIN/Vast, etc), you just might find that something else would be better suited for you (ex. software sampler), but I will never be able to tell anyone NOT to get this machine, because in my world its the bomb.

Hope this helps 8)

Tha Saint has pretty much summed this up. Download yourself a copy of Bluebox for editing Programs and you just might love this machine. Great for getting ideas down fast, portable and never crashed on me since the day I bought it.

OUCH OUCH it hurts, take out the knife..... AAAAUUUUUUHHHHHGG..

Find someone or a store that has a 1k you can play around with and see if YOU like it or not. No one but YOU can tell you if it's right for you.

I'm not being a smart azz I'm just callin it how I see it.

Yeah, it sounds like the 1k would work well for you.

I could recommend it to anyone who is going in with the attitude of "i need a cool drum machine and/or sequencer, and the fact it does other stuff is a bonus"

cause that's what the machine is all about. Drums and sequencing.

People who are hoping for an all-in-one box that will do good melodic multi-samples, multitrack recording, efx and compresion etc. ususally end up back here with too many questions

(ps. i have one, i like it... the 2500 makes me drool tho.)

go to guitar center and make a couple beats in like 15 minutes

then you'll love and rob a gas station to buy one like me
