i believe we don't need any connectors. it will slide right into the bay. and what i believe akai was talking about when they said "...something to hold the drive..." when u open the front panel, there are two holes on either side of the bay. the bracket will screw onto the drive and the end of the drive will screw the bracket onto the mpc.

as far as power for the drive, think laptops. laptop drives don't require power like the desktops. they draw their power from one of the pins.

The following hard drives have been tested and approved for use in the MPC1000:

Fujitsu
Model: MHN2200AT

Seagate
Model: ST92011A

Toshiba
Model: MK4026GAX (40GB)

Sup bro? Yep, these drives will work in your 1000. If you haven’t taken it apart yet:

It’s pretty easy. Just need to take off the screws holding the bottom plate on. Then the sides, then the face of the Compact Flash. You’ll see an empty slot for a hard drive with a ready pin set. These 3 drives have been tested and approved. Ain’t that cool???

You’ll need some sort of case to hold the hard drive. We have them on order, but they won’t be in for a while. If you’re a computer guy, I’m sure you’ll be able to find some sort of housing that fits.

as far as the 1k recognizing the hdd, it should automatically add an option to the save/load source for hard drive.

as far as a needed os upgrade, we wouldn't need it for the hdd but one is coming

a conversion kit is also becomming available for this as well.

Good lookin out Sparq! The Toshiba definitely looks like the best option, considering the specs. Right now I'm looking to see if anyone I know might have one laying around, so I can save $69. :D

if you are talking about the pins...... think about it. if that were the case, why would my boy at akai tell me to just slide the drive right in. and the only thing that i would need to worry about is just something to hold it.

if you are talking about the power...... all laptops (at least here in the states) don't have a separate power supply or power adapter. that's just plain logic.

and just curious, what makes mpc3000 an EXPERT?

Just knowing that you can put a drive in your mpc 1000 makes me feel like I've got a new machine.
