Adding extra external MIDI ports to the MPC is it possible?

I have an XL it has 2 midi outs I want to hook up my other keyboard to it without using MIDI through cuz it sucks. Is there any hardware for this? I've checked out midi ports but they are for computers.

I just need 2 hook up one more keyboard. So if I plug one of these boys into the MPC then I'll have MIDI A, B, and C I presume? The MPC will recognize it and add C?

Internally there wont be an added MIDI port "C" on your MPC, but you can take one keyboard to use as your main trigger going into one MIDI IN on your MPC, then hook up the input of the M-Audio to your MPCs MIDI OUT, where you can have the rest of your keyboards act as slave devices contolled by the master keyboard.

Or if you'd like to have all your keyboards become master keyboards, buy the 3x8 and wire it up in the reverse method.

Personally, I don't see a need for it when you can just take your best keyboard and use it as a master, as I explained originally.

PS - Keep in mind that you need to assign a seperate MIDI channel on each device (as well as inside the MPC), reguardless of how you set it all up.

i got the 1X3 version of this, they are very cheap

So with 2 racks, 1 synth and a midi controller how woud I configure this set-up on the MPC?

This is how I'm hooked up now. 2MIDI OUTS- Rack1-midi A, Rack 2-midi B.

I just don't understand how the MPC will recognize the additional MIDI inputs.(synth)

If you take the MIDI out of MPC to one of the box's MIDI in it will copy that DATA to all the MIDI thrus. So you would'nt see it in the MPC as "C", it would just be all the DATA you sent out that MIDI out. You would probably have to assign different MIDI CH to each part, ie all the parts that go to rack one, rack two, Keyboard three, and so on.

I don't know if that helps, But Basically MIDI Thru has the same info that MIDI In receives, It's how you Daisy chain gear.
These boxes are more of a MIDI Multi port set up, you can hook up alot of gear and not get MIDI choke.
