Sequencing question???

Sup,

I wanna know if its possible to use the MPC and all its features but instead of using the internal sequencer to sequence the parts have the option to sequence them in an external sequencer? Something like Sonar or Protools or something... Can this be done?

I use Sonar 3.1.1 Producer Edition and as of right now I do have it successfully syncing with Sonar. Meaning, if I press play from Sonar it then triggers my MPC. How would I go about routing the MIDI tracks from the MPC to their own destination on a MIDI track in Sonar?

The sequencer is probably the best feature of the beast....but yes, you can use the pads, and samples from almost any soft sequencer...just not sure why you would want to...

Totally possible.. sometimes I use both or go back and forth with the midi data between the two for easier editing to filter sweeps and the like. But go through all the different ways you can sync and it will reveal some interesting benifits. Also make sure to go through all the options in your sequence edit mode like record as played or tc value and understand thier benifits while step recording and live recording, aswell as the continue to next step in step sequencing mode. If you figure those out and get use to the lenghts of notes by number of ticks you will be set with your mpc sequencer. I did what your looking into for a day or so and then switched back to my 4000 sequencer. If your using a 4000 dont for get you can hold shift and use the jog dial to select a group from left to right and use the cursor buttons on the jog dail to isolate your selection from top to bottom.. this emulates the benifit of a mouse just fine for me. Another thing you could do is just make your sketch with the mpc and then record the midi data into a software sequencer for all the editing.
