Sup y'all,
Ok now that DrFunk's got my spirits up again, i'm signed back in the forum....
Yo TFunk, I heard some pretty good things about the pods. I've been using the RPx400 for guitar and pleased with it but was kinda looking for a similar type style way of treating bass. I tried the bass with the RPx and its missing some tonal qualities in my view, I called digitech and the dude didnt have a whole lot to say compatibility wise with bass. They do have a BNx3 or something of that nature, but I've never seen one in action. Wondering if the bass POD comes with software to record tracks and allow you to export your samples in .wav? Gonna go check the site....Do you use it primarily to serve for processing and preamp purposes? Thanks for the tip, its probably something i'm looking for.
I'm out

I thought the 1k could only handle 16bit44 devices, and it seems like the bass pod has 24bit converters...does this mean its not useable with the mpc?

from site:
Bass POD® XT has all the connections you’ll need to cut any type of live or recording gig. Our 24-bit converters and 32-bit floating point processing create a killer tone, delivered through discrete processed & DI outputs with the ability to mix the direct signal into the modeled output. Bass PODXT also features biamp mode with selectable crossover, MIDI In, Out/Thru, RJ-45 Foot Controller Connector, Headphone Output, and USB digital I/O for Mac® and PC recording applications.

Hmmmm...interesting. That might be right. You could still use it with the 1/4" out and it would still sound better than anything else. However, I'm not sure what the 24bit refers to. It's most likely the a/d conveters. I wonder what it's sending.

I would definitely stay away from the Digitech stuff. I've been selling the stuff for the last 10 years. I never heard one that I liked. Line 6 is great sounding stuff. Also the Boss pedal is quite good. (GT-6B)

Both of which you'll notice have waaaaaay too many effects for a bass processor. They kind of have to build them that way. They need to make a million sounds in order to make a dozen (or so) usable patches.

Back to the 16/24bit:
Unfortunately, I couldn't tell you for sure until I plugged it in and tried it. The 1000 only handles 16bit wav. But what about the digi in? Is it a 24bit converter that then translates to a 16bit sample? (I'll bet it is) I'll give you a 90% sure it can be done. Maybe if you head to a GC and try it out?

GOOD LUCK!

Finally! Someone who thinks like I do. :D

Here's the bottom line:

You can say what ever you want about the mainstream, but the true heads know that REAL HIP-HOP is in the underground.

By the way, Lil' John is NOT hip-hop. His bouncey, rock 'n' roll, 808, strictly keyboard style will get played out, sooner or later.

Only the POD pro has S/PDIF. Which is a killer piece of gear. But the Pod 2.0 and XT will do the job.

Yo TFunk, I dont' think you can use the PodxtPro to record into the 1k.

From 1k manual: "You can record only from the devices whose sampling rate is set to 44.1kHz. The MPC1000 does not support the other sampling rates."

From BassPodxtPro website: :"With its XLR and 1/4-inch outs, 24-bit/96k digital ins and outs (AES/EBU & S/PDIF), and effects loop, you'll be able to connect to any type of analog, digital, or computer audio hardware. Now you're ready to track."

Somebody please correct me if i'm wrong here

PAYCE!!!

Saint...I think you're right.

I still don't know for sure, so now it's gonna bug the crap out of me until I find out. A friend of mine has the Bass Pod pro. If I can borrow it for a few minutes I'll plug it in and see what happens.

Sometimes ya gotta just plug it in and see what happens!

Yeah I guess not, unless you can change the sample rate. Otherwise just run it in 1/4". I have a Pod 2.0 and it sounds great going in to my MPC.

Yeah, just runnin' the 1/4" I suppose is the only option, but definitely a good piece to add to a studio arsenal

Thanks y'all
