I don't use the MV-8000. Honestly, I bought it just to see what it was all about and let Akai/Roland know what I like and don't like about it..in hopes of them developing better future products. It was not my cup of tea so I found a good home for it.

What OS did u have on you MV-8000? I heard that the 3rd OS allows 4 loop-style sequences like the MPC. It seems like a really powerful machine and I'd be interested 2 hear from an actual user. Did the MPC 2500 drop? I noticed u had it as your weapon of choice. -=uno=-

I had a MV for a while. I does have a loop option. the main reasons I didnt like it was that the load times took to long( 2min to load up and 2min to switch projects) and the other main reason was they had instrament(program for akai's) velocity, but no track velocity. so if you wanted to change one of your tracks velocity and you were using the same program on another track, you would either have to load the program in another spot(taking up more memory) or change the notes individualy. it also just had many random options that I never used because they were terrible compared to the PC. like for one thing, you could only use one effect at a time, resample to get the effect on there so you could use the "one effect ata time" for another track, whereas in protools I could just put as many effects as I needed for whatever. The MV is good for someone that needs a "all in one" but if you have computer programs and a good synth, then its just a bad MPC.

Good look on the reply. Ahhh slow load time. That's good 2 know as that is 1 of the reasons it interested me. I like the idea of loading/saving sounds 2/from a hard drive as opposed 2 zip, disk, etc. Roland has a rep 4 doing things the hard way and an even harder time explaining them i.e. the manual. That seems 2 be the trend right now... adding a bunch of features that no 1 uses. So did u end up with a piece of hardware or just the computer?

I had the MV-8000 and the MPC1000 for a while. The MPC 1000 I got after the MV and would have sold the MV if the 1000 had some more options. becuase I only had the MV before that I was suprized that it loaded so fast and all of the options were in the right place, they were all usable, and I could tweake the sounds better. the I got a MPC 3000, so i sold the 1000, and after a month of only using the 3000 and getting fed up with all of the stupid, out of place options on the MV I had to let it go. also the 3000 hit harder and for the most part had way better sound than the 1000, and better sound + more uses than the MV.

also my beats on the mpc 3000 are a lot more unique, in "pole position" on my soundclick page, its imposible to find where the samples are from, where as "still rollin" as a strait samle, chopped a little, but i didnt need a $2g MV just to take strait samples, chop a little, and speed them up. you know?

I had the latest OS..which was 3. something. That was just a few months ago before I returned to the US. The MV was just not for me..just like the MPC 4000. But I am sure that you can do what you need to do.

But for me...I am not looking to purchase a budget studio in a box. I buy things that perform speciifc functions extremely well. Not buy something that can do many this satisfactory.

The MPC 2500 is not released yet unless you were among the choosen elite. I am not even one of those. But I will be getting mine next week..among the chosen few

3000 is it man! If I don't upgrade my 60, that's what I'm getting no doubt. The 1000 does load hella fast huh. See I love that about the newer gear but they just don't have that punch, functionality and unnecessary features. we'll see what the 2500 has 2 offer......

I checced out your traccs. They're straight... I dig how they were put 2gether. U can mask your samples with any sampler. I think that u just found the interface more intuitive on the 3000 so u were able 2 experiment and design the sound u wanted. Tru dat tho u don't need a $2G sampler 2 chop and stretch samples LOL.

Well, bra..I have quality MPCs on hand looking for a good home..whether you want functions or not..stripped down to maxed out. I am entering to my last pahse of slinging MPCs (unless the 2500 takes off like a wild fire)...Oct/Nov will be my last days of ruling eBay. It may time to pass the torch. Get out of the game while I am on top Hundreds sold..with 100% positive customer feedback..around the globe!
